Our advice
To ensure your child’s lesson runs smoothly, please:
- Bring your child to the meeting point fully equipped at least 10 minutes before the lesson starts,
- Make sure they carry their lesson card at every session (including private lessons),
- Weather conditions, lift breakdowns, or other incidents cannot be attributed to the instructors,
- Programmes and schedules may be modified during the season by the esf management,
- On Fridays, the last 15 minutes of the lesson are dedicated to a weekly review and the medal ceremony with the children and their instructors.
Please make sure your child is properly equipped according to their needs:
- Skis suited to their height: tips should reach their chin. Trust the professionals for proper adjustment,
- Boots in the correct size, worn with one pair of socks only,
- A helmet is strongly recommended,
- Warm clothing appropriate for the weather,
- Sunglasses or ski goggles,
- SPF 3 minimum anti-UV sunscreen,
- Tissues and a small snack for the break during the lesson.
Good to know:
- ski pass, insurance and ski equipment are not included in the lesson price. Please refer to our dedicated pages for more information.
- Wearing a helmet is highly recommended, especially for children.
- Off-piste skiing involves risks that even an instructor or a guide cannot eliminate,
- During school holidays, we strongly advise booking your lessons in advance,
- Group lessons are only confirmed with a minimum of 5 participants,
- Weather conditions, lift breakdowns or other incidents are not the responsibility of the French Ski School,
- Lessons are non-refundable, except for group lessons or private instructor bookings cancelled no later than 8 days before the course begins. To avoid financial risks (rescue on the slopes, medical costs, ski lessons, lift passes, equipment rental...), we recommend subscribing to suitable insurance.

Off-piste advice
Off-piste skiing offers unique sensations but requires preparation and caution. Here are the recommendations of esf La Plagne instructors:
- Be properly equipped and know how to use safety gear: avalanche transceiver (DVA), shovel, probe and appropriate backpack,
- Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended,
- Never go off-piste alone: be accompanied by an esf instructor or a high-mountain guide for added safety,
- A confirmed level in skiing or snowboarding is essential,
- Off-piste outings may be cancelled depending on weather conditions or avalanche risk.
